He had saved up that money for more then six months. It had been his dream to get out of this town and leave it all behind. He was tired of the drama, the sacrifices that came with living here, and now the only shot he had was gone, I couldn't help but want to cry for him. All that I knew to say was that we'll figure something out, even though I had no clue how it could possibly ever work out.
The next day I was packing up some of the stuff in my room for my big move in the fall. I happened to come across a broach that my grandmother had given me a few years earlier. It was a beautiful piece, belonged to her mother once upon a time in fact. All gold with large dark sapphire stones inlaid. As I did every time I came across it, I put it on. It was then that I realized that it had done all it could for me, and that it was time to do for another what I wished he could do for me.
